What is a Volunteer?

Volunteering is usually defined as doing something, without pay and as a matter of choice, for the benefit of individuals or society outside one's own immediate family.

One of the best things about volunteering is that you have a chance to choose what you want to do, where you want to do it and when

Who can Volunteer?

Voluntary Work can benefit you in many ways and a few hours of your time is all that is needed. In return you can meet people and make new friends, gain new skills or even qualifications.

What types of voluntary work is available?

Some examples of areas which volunteers are often involved in are: the environment, children, homelessness, sport, mental health, animals, culture and heritage and human rights. This involves volunteers in fundraising, tutoring, shop-work, driving, befriending, counselling, DIY & practical skills, advice work and arts & crafts.
